Eduardo Paolozzi and 18th Century Staffordshire figures are amongst the varied inspirations for Jane’s work.

Standing alone or in groups, her figures, which are individually hand modelled in stoneware clay, become infused with humour and personality by her ability to ‘sketch’ with clay and develop ideas during the making process. Jane’s figures, although not specific individuals, by their sheer anonymity never fail to remind us of the stereotypical characters we all know and love, whether an eccentric uncle or the neighbours’ cat.
