Nicola Ransom

Nicola takes reference from the world she sees around her, contemplative views, details from nature, colour, pattern and texture. Using specialist glass techniques she makes intricate cuts, layering glass with natural materials, wire and coloured glass to create both abstracted and figurative imagery which she fires to 800 Centigrade.

The artworks evolve through experimentation, one piece triggering ideas and thoughts as the theme develops. Nicola’s current designs take the idea of a snapshot, a moment in time that is frozen and captured within a framework.

Nicola has amassed a broad range of skills over the past fifteen years of working in the Commercial Interiors and Graphic Design industry. Working with flat glass has given her the freedom to express her creativity in fine art, producing substantial artworks for both the corporate and domestic market.
