Vivienne Ross

Vivienne's ceramics are made from red earthenware clay that she decorates using coloured slips and underglazes.

The forms are kept deliberately simple using hand-processes such as coiling and slabbing and press-moulding. Working intuitively and spontaneously, Vivienne allows everyday thoughts and preoccupations to dictate the direction of the images.

The figurative decoration, often described as dreamlike, is sgraffitoed (drawn directly) into the coloured slip layer.
