Peter's work is all finely thrown on a mechanised kick wheel. When the thrown bowl is leather hard, Peter turns each piece to form the foot ring. While the bowl is still on the wheel, he ‘raw glazes’ the inside with a loaded brush. The outside is glazed in the same way the following day.

Peter openly acknowledges the influence of Lucie Rie’s work. Diverse other influences include pots from ancient china, the looseness and freedom of Bizen wares to the blackbird singing outside his window. He is drawn to simple form with a focus on strong colour.
